It appears to work as well as the messy venturi, but I have such a hard time removing it from the bottle each time, I only gave 3 stars.
I have used this aerator on about 6 bottles of wine and tried the taste before and after using this product. It works as per description and the spout is great for pouring without drops. The areated wine tastes better than just out of the bottle. I now use it on all wine bottles I open.
The reason I give it 4 and not 5 stars is that the other popular product – Vinturi – which I have also used, areates the wine more than this unit. The other item – Vinturi – aerators more but leaves a lot of mess behind in terms of spills and drops due to the way it is supposed to be used.
I bought this for my father for christmas. He drinks a lot of wine, but I knew he would never use the aerator that you have to hold over the glass. Too many steps, too much clean-up. This may not aerate quite as much as that other device, but it is so easy to use and clean, it will absolutely get used more. You can see (and hear) the bubbles going into the wine, and I definitely noticed a difference in the taste, even if it was slight.
Absolutely worth the price!
