The Vinotemp VT-12TEDS-2Z wine cooler is a dual-zone thermoelectric wine cooler with a capacity of approximately 12 bottles. Accurately control the temperature of your wine with two separate zones that can be individually set for optimal red and white wine temps. The thermoelectric cooling system of this unit, which involves very few moving parts, helps protect your wine from unnecessary vibration. Thermoelectric cooling is not only good for your valuable wine collection and energy efficiency but also for the environment, because this type of cooling does not use ozone-depleting chemicals like CFCs. This attractive wine cellar includes dual-paned glass windows, which have better insulation properties, better UV protection, and also are easier to clean. Featuring a black cabinet, stainless steel door trim and handle, and sturdy wood shelf racking for individual bottle storage, this compact wine cooler is perfect for your smaller storage needs.

Bought this (as scratch and dent, but not refurb’ed) and the circuit board died in just under one year (I suspect). I know this is not exactly a high end product, but seriously, I’ve got a $10 coffee maker that has lasted me for over five years. This ran me $75 and new they cost at least $100. This isn’t a high tech item, just a fan, a thermostat, and a little condenser. Just like the other reviewers mentioned, the racks never quite fit and would fall out of the tracks onto the other bottles whenever a shelf was extended.
Would avoid like the plague.
UPDATE: Recieved email from customer support suggesting that it may be the circuit board, which they would ship me for $35. They could not guarantee a fix however. Instead, I plan on buying something else rather than sink more money into this product which may not get me anywhere.
I purchased my unit 8 months ago. The upper zone stopped working. Customer service said I needed a part for $35 but it is back ordered and would be shipped in 45 days.
Now the entire unit has stopped working. They tell me the main circuit board has failed and they will ship to me with the other part.
The unit is a piece of junk and the customer service department is not helpful. Avoid this product/unit and company.
The unit looks great but unfortunately it is a huge disappointment since it failed in less than three months. The worst part of this is that the customer service is horrible so it appears that my unit will never be repaired. I have been told that the replacement board will be in within a week or two for over three months and I still don’t have the part. I should have done more research on this company before buying this wine cooler since this seems to be the norm for this unit along with the company’s poor customer service. I would stay away from anything that this company sells based on my own experience with this wine cooler as well as reviewer’s similar experiences.
They removed all the bad reviews for this unit, including one I already wrote last summer.
So much for Amazon’s integrity. This is the worst piece of junk we have ever received. Given as a gift in May, 2009, the unit’s cooling board failed after approx 6 weeks. The customer service failed continually. The shelves were warped and did not fit. The replacement unit arrived in September. No instructions, then instructions that were written in Chinese English. It would take a professional electrician to install but they want me to do that. I might try, and get shocked and at least make some money in the lawsuit.
They may make good expensive units, but Vinotemp ought to be ashamed of selling junk like this.
This is a great choice if you don’t keep a lot of wine “in stock”. For me the dual zone was perfect – better than buying two units: one for red and one for white. I’ve served both red and white from this and I find the temperatures to be well maintained.
It looks great and adds class to any wine storage / serving area you have – an attractive feature.
The only draw back is that the shelves are a little flimsy and don’t move in and out that well. But they are functional.
